SMA Europe mit seinen nationalen Organisationen unterstützt dieses Jahr mit rund 400 000 Euros Forschungsprojekte im Bereich der Spinalen Muskelatrophie.
Unter den erfolgreichen Projekten war ebenfalls eines aus der Schweiz:
Dr. Frédéric Allain, ETH Zürich mit dem Projekt „In search of small molecules targeting protein-RNA complex: a novel approach against SMA“
Die weiteren Projekt sind:
Dr. Kariya Shingo, Columbia University, New-York, USA mit „Elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying maturation and remodeling defects of the neuromuscular system in SMA“
Dr. Barkats Martine, Institute of Myology, Paris, France mit “Optimization of AAV9-SMN gene therapy for SMA”
Die Schweizerische Muskelgesellschaft vertreten durch SMA Schweiz ist seit Februar 2013 Mitglied bei SMA Europe.
